Vibrational Sound Healing Therapy

Words and History of Sound Therapy

Sound healing has been a recorded practice all over the world, in every tradition for over 5,000 years.

The sound of the Tibetan bowls and their vibration carries rich, audible tones and invisible frequencies that penetrate all levels of our consciousness. Fill a bowl with water and strike the edge - see how the water reacts so completely to the vibration; your body, which is made of over 70% water, reacts the same way to sound vibration. These tonal vibrations penetrate all levels of tissue, harmonizing your entire system; physical, mental, emotional, and energetic.

The vibratory effects of the singing bowls reach into the body in a way no other therapeutic medium can. The experience is very personal and unique to each individual. Like a good massage only better, the effects of a singing bowl session are both immediate and lasting.

The singing bowls produce a sound wave that enters the energy field of the body, clearing it of any vibrational "pollution" or disharmony that we may experience as stress, tension, anxiety, sleeplessness, emotional stagnation, elevated cortisol levels, over-stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, elevated heart rate, and disturbed breathing patterns to name a few. Singing bowls are also finding their way into integrative cancer centers as science is able to demonstrate their therapeutic value for stress reduction and pain relief.

The vibrations of the singing bowls cause a light massage to all of our cells. The same results are conducted by physiotherapists with ultra-sonic sound waves (Jansen 1992: 39) Synchronization comes into play when the vibrations of the singing bowls transform the normal vibrations and wavelengths of the human body to match their own. Meaning, a healthy organ vibrates at its own rhythms and frequency, while and unhealthy organ's natural rhythm is disturbed. Singing bowls "recreate the original harmonic frequency, and stimulate the body to rediscover its own harmonic frequency, my making it vibrate to the frequency of the bowl so that when it is synchronized, it can vibrate independently." (Jansen 1992: 39)

Jansen, E.R. (1992). Singing Bowls: A Practical Handbook of Instruction and Use. Diever, Holland: Binkey Kok Publications.

"Sound healing, when integrated with mindfulness and breathing practices, is the quickest and most effective way to achieve relaxation. There are virtually no medical conditions, states of imbalance, or individuals that cannot benefit from relaxation. Likewise, there is no one that can manage stress, pain, or tension without sound"
-- John Beaulieu, N.D, Ph.D. and David Perez-Martinez, M.D.

    Singing Bowl Therapy

    Book a session with me.

Singing bowl therapy dates back to the 12
th century and has been used for meditation and rituals in Tibetan culture. Metal bowls produce a deep, penetrating sound that’s used to relax and repair the mind.

    A 2016
study found that singing bowl meditation reduced stress, anger, depression, and fatigue.

All of these things are known to impact physical health and raise the risk for disease, suggesting that singing bowl therapy may be good for your physical, as well as emotional, well-being.
