Let us once again make it clear -- aging, no matter your gender, is okay!
In a world where perfection is marketed on every platform, and what media calls 'normal' is reminiscent of less than 1% of the world, we need to be brave and dare to be flawbulous. Here is my story on this point: While attended #WEC17 in Las Vegas this June, I was advanced upon twice. First, a group of ladies were selling their product right in our convention space - a booth of fancy boxes, pretty women, and a few plush chairs. I was told all about the exfoliators I should be using (theirs) and the face cream that would take my eye wrinkles away. I humored them. They have a job to do too. But, I left without product. That same day, while walking through a shopping area inside Planet Hollywood, I was approached again. I was riding a high. My hair had just been officially 'blown out' for the first time and I felt sassy. Suddenly, a woman asks me about the redness on my cheeks and what type of moisturizer I use. Now, I am a SeneGence International® distributer. I love my skincare products and make-up. I'm not in the market for new face creams, and I certainly don't treat my personal customers as if they are falling apart without the products I use. Ugh! Back to the story...I was flabbergasted. I thought I looked like a million bucks and someone was trying to find an insecurity that would allow them access to my credit card. NO WAY! After the trip, I let it go. It was 'Vegas' after all - it is a sellers market for those wanting to look more...anything really. However, last weekend, as I walked through the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls, South Dakota I was approached again. The same comments; "What do you use for an exfoliator?" "I see you have oily skin." "Daily moisturizers aren't anti-aging." "This could help the redness of your skin."....blah blah blah. I had heard it all and was ready to move on. I attempted my Midwest nice, "No, thank you." This tag-team was not getting the point. What set me off to be more stern, was the fact this was taking place in front of my impressionable 6 year old daughter. I don't want to hear their rhetoric about my skin being flawed and I certainly do not want my daughter hearing it! I strive to be better for myself and my children. I don't speak negatively about my body in front of them. I am shaped different, we all are, and that is okay! Embrace your uniqueness; gray hair, birth marks, chubby belly. It is you! Be you and rejoice in what your body does for you. Make choices for yourself based on your own goals and what you see as a personal need or betterment. I certainly don't need every face cream that is thrown at me. I don't need every powder to make me thinner or every box of hair dye to cover my grays. That is my choice. If something helps you feel confident in yourself, by all means, go for it. But, be you 100%! Your authenticity and self-confidence will take you far in life...and within any industry.

I agree, no matter how I feel about growing older, getting wrinkles, gray hair, the way my body has changed with weight gain and loss, NEVER do I complain in front of my young children. They have never heard me put myself down and I hope that helps with their personal self esteem as they grow. My body has gotten me this far and it will take me a long ways after. It is a tool and I love it no matter what!
