Hearty Midwest values with a hint of rebellion.
I truly believe some people are able to learn from other's mistakes and some people have to learn from their own. (I am surely more of the latter.) That being said, growing has pains. Anything worth having isn't easy and we all have to evolve our skills.
I took some time away from blogging due to career, life, and focus. I could feel myself starting to spread myself too thin again...yes, I am still learning to say 'No' too. In this time, I have had to put on proverbial earmuffs and keep moving forward and with my gut. I needed self-care and I had finally learned to recognize it, ask for help, and give myself what I needed without remorse.
There were those who were salty about my decisions to not take on certain tasks, there were haters, naysayers, and general downers (we have some in our lives). But, the reverse were the people who applauded my decisions, even when they effected them and their lives. My husband supported my self-care and my tribe backed me and my gut decision to slow down for a bit.
Know that you too can put listen to your gut while blocking out the noise around you! Create a routine of self-care today:
1. A bubble bath once a week
2. An hour each day to read
3. Schedule phone calls with your best friends far away.
4. Make time to connect with your spouse.
5. Re-evaluate your goals and listen to your gut
Impatience can cause us to react, but in listening to our gut we can act boldly for ourselves. And never fear taking downtime to evaluate your next move before making it.
